Summer Camps/Holidays
Okay, so you’ve got a very long summer vacation coming up for your child, and one very bored young child to try and amuse for weeks on end. For many parents, trying to look after and entertain a younger child during the summer vacation can be a nightmare, particularly for parents that have to work and therefore have little time. Although you can always get someone in to look after the kids, send them over to a friends where there is an adult present, or take time off from work to look after them, younger kids can get very bored – particularly if they are stuck with adults for most of the day with little or nothing to keep them amused.
Summer camps are an excellent way of keeping the kids entertained during the summer holiday, as well as enabling them to learn valuable skills, socialize, and make new friends. You will find a variety of different summer camps available, and these camps enable kids to really develop in terms of confidence and personality, allowing them to explore new environments, meet new people, and develop new skills – as well as have great fun.
Some of the different types of summer camps you can select from include:
- Family owned camps: At these camps you can enjoy the benefits of a family run, close knit camp, and often these camps tend to have far more in terms of facilities, as the camp is the family business. These camps can be more expensive than some of the others, but often provide excellent facilities and enjoy a close, family atmosphere that will help your child to feel at home. These camps are great for longer stay kids that are looking to remain at camp for several weeks or more.
- Charity funded camps: At these camps, your child can enjoy meeting a diverse range of people, and will usually get to enjoy the benefits of a community atmosphere and involvement in a range of activities. These camps are suitable for those looking to stay for a week or two, to allow for more people to enjoy the benefits of summer camp.
- Specials needs camps: Of course, very often regular summer camp may not be suitable for kids with special needs, but the good news is that there are camps available designed for those with specials needs. This means that your child will get to enjoy all the benefits of summer camp, but will not have to worry about missing out and will get to enjoy specifically designed activities and meet other kids in a similar situation.
